Gouldians are excellent cage birds. They are hardy, quiet, and easy to care for. Diet: Finch mix, greens, spray millet, boiled egg, veggies, and fruit. The cock does a little buzzy song and dances up and down on the perch to impress his mate. Immature pairs are prone to chick tossing but once they get the hang of it they prove to be good parents. Tall plastic nest boxes with round hole and flip up peek lid are my choice for nesting pairs. I line the bottom with cedar chips crushed fine, add a layer of fine grasses and make a circle of grasses around the sides of the box. The hen will lay 4 to 6 white eggs and commence sitting after the last egg is laid. The cocks help with incubation and raising of the chicks. Hatching 14 - 16 days, fledge at 18 - 20 days.
