The Pearl Society is the newest rare color mutation in the US. Originating in Japan these beautiful little birds were developed and bred by Osamu Tamura, one of the top Japanese breeders Mr.Tamura spent over fifteen years to produce the Pearl Society of today. The Pearl was exclusively a Japan native until the year 1998 when an American canary breeder, Shimpei Tanaguchi read an article about them in a Japanese breeders journal. After much debate three US breeders , including Shimpei, got together and imported some rare Japanese Societies including Frills and Pearls into the United States. And now after only a few short years Pearls are available in a limited number to us smaller breeders here in the US. I am thrilled to be one of these breeders. I recently purchased three pair plus one extra hen and am impatiently waiting for the first babes to fledge. Check back in a couple months for an opportunity to purchase some of my young stock. I should have a limited number of Pearls ready for sale by mid August of 2006.
